[13:11]  1 tn The words “their territory also included” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[4:48]  2 tn The words “their territory extended” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons. In the Hebrew text vv. 47-49 are all one sentence, but for the sake of English style and readability the translation divides the text into two sentences.

[4:48]  3 sn Mount Siyon (the Hebrew name is שִׂיאֹן [sion], not to be confused with Zion [צִיּוֹן, tsiyyon]) is another name for Mount Hermon, also called Sirion and Senir (cf. Deut 3:9).

[89:12]  4 sn Tabor and Hermon were two of the most prominent mountains in Palestine.

[133:3]  5 sn Hermon refers to Mount Hermon, located north of Israel.

[133:3]  6 sn The hills of Zion are those surrounding Zion (see Pss 87:1; 125:2). The psalmist does not intend to suggest that the dew from Mt. Hermon in the distant north actually flows down upon Zion. His point is that the same kind of heavy dew that replenishes Hermon may also be seen on Zion’s hills. See A. Cohen, Psalms (SoBB), 439. “Dew” here symbolizes divine blessing, as the next line suggests.

[133:3]  7 tn Or “for.”

[133:3]  8 tn Heb “there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forever.”
